Not far from the bustle of New York\u2019s Times Square, BHDM Design<\/a> has created Castell<\/a>, a rooftop lounge that is both welcoming and refined. The cityscape is a focal point, with large windows overlooking Manhattan\u2019s skyscrapers and water towers. At night, the lighting dims so the view takes over. But even though the city dominates, the overall feel is intimate and relaxed. An entry lounge sets that tone, with walnut walls and a large fireplace. In the main bar area, a mixture of seating areas creates a space that feels like a\u00a0comfortable\u00a0residence. \u201cCastell was envisioned as a warm and sexy rooftop living-room lounge,\u201d says principal Dan Mazzarini<\/a>. He\u00a0was inspired by the vaults and shapes of Spanish architecture, so 11-foot-high arches repeat throughout the space.<\/p>\n
